Q1 Implementation Team Update

In July 2023, the General Assembly gathered and passed Resolution 2343: “Amendments to the Design of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).” This historic vote represented an affirmative response to our continued call to be a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world by adjusting how we engage and become a more connected church.

The Implementation Team, which includes leaders from every expression of the Church gathered in Indianapolis, Indiana in January to continue this work. This team, led by Rev. Belva Brown Jordan, immediate past Moderator, is committed to serve and construct a plan to implement the approved changes.

There is joyful anticipation throughout the church for the fruition of GA-2343 and how it will benefit our ministry together:
– Congregations will be more connected to one another through the General Assembly as well as to the Regions and the General Board.
– Congregations will have a greater voice in shaping the present and future of the church.
– The General Church and General Board will increase their communication with our congregations.

This is an exciting time for the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) as we endeavor to be the church we say we are.
