The Center for Indigenous Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) gathered online from the Disciples of Christ Historical Society on April 22 in honor of Earth Day to announce the creation of a Truth and Healing Council. The focus of the announcement was to call the church to reparative and restorative work within the structures of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The Truth and Healing Council will hold listening sessions to hear from indigenous voices in all Regions of the Christian Church (DOC.) The listening sessions will inform the continued reparative and restorative work of the denomination.
Along with the announcement of a Truth and Healing Council, CIM also listed reparations that the denomination can begin to live into now and called for CIM to be a recognized ministry of the Christian Church (DOC) by 2023. You can read more about the work of CIM and reparations and watch the announcement by visiting Center for Indigenous Ministries.
The announcement is a part of the ongoing and sustained work in 2013 of GA-1324 (passed) which called the church to reflect on the Christian Theology and Polity, the Christian Doctrine of Discovery and the Indigenous Voice; and the 2017 GA-1722 (passed) which Repudiated the Christian Doctrine of Discovery and was a call “To Education and Action, and Support for Indigenous Voices in the Witness of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) .”

I am interested in becoming part of the Truth and Healing Council. What is the process and / or requirements to join this important and sacred word?
